Free (Kindle) : Tyrus Books - Fishing and Shopping Mysteries

I have rather liked what I have read from crime specialist Tyrus Books so far, so was pleased to see these :-

"Driven by tragedy to turn his back on human society, the Dog is on a quest to fish himself into oblivion. And he’s nearly made it. Playing the back highways of America in a wounded old RV . . . provisioned with a supply of peanut butter sandwiches, bad cigars, and vodka-Tang . . . armed with a loaded pistol (for when the money runs out) . . . the Dog is nearly at the end of his tether when he rolls into little Black Earth, Wisconsin, intending to fish the yellow sally stonefly hatch . . . and finds a body instead."

"The likable protagonist of this creditable first novel is Quint McCauley, a middle-aged ex-cop recently jilted by his 23-year-old lover. McCauley is head of security for Hauser's, a large Chicago department store. Preston Hauser, president of the store, has been receiving threatening letters, and asks McCauley to quietly investigate. At a meeting with McCauley in his office, Preston takes his daily vitamins--and dies: the capsules were laced with cyanide. McCauley tells Preston's wife, Diana, a fetching kleptomaniac, that she is a widow; she finds the news hilarious and tries to seduce him. McCauley resists; he has recently become roommates with Elaine Kluszewski. He and Elaine investigate the various Hauser's executives that Preston had suspected of writing the letters. Brod's settings and dialogue are realistic and believable, more than making up for a repetitive running gag on the difficulty of parking in Chicago. Despite the obvious flag or two pointing the way to the guilty doorstep, this hard-boiled first-in-a-series is solid, satisfying fare. "

Thanks for the heads up. I got the fishing book when it was first announced, and picked up the shopping book last night.

Murder in Store by DC Brod is free at Amazon.de now - with a publication date of 24th August 2015 (yes, that is 2015). I thought I'd mention it anyway.

The US edition is now a 2015 pre-order, as well. Of course, I already have it on my Kindle, since I ordered it "early"

I just went onto UK site, "bought it" for £0.00, and got acknowledgement of my success - and the news that it would be delivered on 24th August 2015 !!!!
