Keep news for x days/issues
Can someone clarify how the advanced fetch news setting work?

I have daily papers being fetched, plus monthly cosmo, shortlist and fhm.

THe monthly might not get transferred to my sony or kindle on day one of being fetched.

Now, if I delete news older than 1 day to get rid of yesterdays news papers then the monthly mags get deleted before i get chance to transfer them.

I tried setting delete to 30days and in the advanced tags setting keep only 1 issue. However, this morning, yesterdays papers are still present. The arrow over help does say the days would override the issues setting - but i took that to mean if the days was reached earlier than the issues to keep.

Is this broken, or have i misunderstood it?

If the latter could the fetchnews be changed so that each items delete news older than x days is stored individually.

It is an OR. If either of the conditions are true, the issue is deleted. You may get one extra issue from time to time, just ignore it, it will be deleted eventually.

Oh and one more wrinkle. calibre was recently changed to only delete news items that have both the Tag News and the author set to calibre. If some of the older issues were downloaded with previous calibre versions, they may not have the author set to calibre, in which case they will need to be deleted by hand. Future news downloads will always have the author set to calibre, and the deletion will work for them.
