Covers Missing on Device

Hi Guys,

Got my touch for Xmas and am still trying to set it up! Thought I finally had everything working but the latest problem is covers missing.

I have about 1700 books on the device (about 200 on device and the rest on sd card). I have edited everything in Calibre and covers are showing correctly on there. Can enter into the books on the computer and covers are there. Load onto device and the last 200 or so in the library are missing covers.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks

Sometimes Calibre won't apply the book covers unless you reconvert the books into epub, I think they might have fixed this now but maybe not. What version of Calibre are you using?

the latest version of calibre, already had reconverted the books to epub, so they are showing correctly.

Have now worked out (i think!) that it is a storage issue as the Touch seems to store the thumbnails on the device which appears to take up a lot of storage space on the touch. I thought it would reference the covers from the file, or am I missing a setting of some description.

Thanks for the help!

Part of the processing that Kobo does on adding a new book is to create multiple thumbnails of the covers on each ePub.

I know there was a thread where someone talked about dropping some of these to free up space since not all the sizes made seem to be used by the Kobo.

Thanks Peter, will have a search. There does seem to be 4 image files for each cover of varying sizes, the largest is about 500kb each! Makes you wonder how covers are displayed if you have a lot of books on it. Why it doesn't save to the sd card where the books are I don't know!

When this happened to me in Calibre with my KT, I just convert epub to epub and it adds the newly selected cover.

I was having the same problem after I changed the covers of a few PG downloads that I didn't like. The epub -> epub conversion worked. Thanks!
