ABBYY Added to File
I recently downloaded Calibre. Whenever I covert a PDF to Mobi, I keep getting advertisements for ABBYY in the book. Every other page is a long html link. When you click on it, it brings up http:\\buy.abbyyusa.....
How do I get rid of this? |

![]() There is no single solution for removing those 'markers', they vary just so it is not easy (it is to get you to buy their program, but allow you to demo it). Sigil can be used to remove each variant. be prepared to do some REGEX ![]() |

is this part of calibre? Do I need to make a donation? Will that take care of my problem?

![]() If you open the PDF with Adobe, the words are there (the rearrangement you see is because the method used to place them and make removal difficult, only looks like a single phrase). |

Everyone gets the same version of calibre and the same level of support whether they donate or not. One of course should donate but the developer cannot actually put in an option to automatically solve this specific problem due to legal/moral implications/restrictions.
If you search the forum for abbyy or ABC lit converter I am sure you will find a solution as their are many post on this topic. Helen |

Ok I am really confused. The ABBYY ad is not in the PDF. It is in the Mobi file Calibre creates. (At least that is where I see it).
Is this imbedded in the pdf and just visible now that it is in a different format? (I am taking a pdf made by someone else and converting it to a mobi file for my Kindle). |

The data will definitely be in the PDF file. You will probably find that there is some setting on the PDF file that is hiding that text (which will likely be in a footer and/or header). The conversion is resulting in this becoming visible.

Possibly it is hidden somehow like a watermark, but it is definitely in the PDF.
Try using the search and replace wizard in conversion selecting PDF as input. then type in the search window abbyy (case must be the same as in the mobi file) calibre does not put it there. Helen |

I have an updated version of Calibre, and limited programming skills. I see that header removal has been moved from Structure Detection to Search and Replace.
However when I put the above code in First Expression - Search Regular Expression and and convert the pdf, I still get the headers What did I do wrong? Can someone give me a step by step directions? Thanks |

You're easiest option might be converting to rtf and then use word ore open office to search and replace, then convert rtf to mobi.
There should be a sticky on the search and replace in this subgroup. Helen |

I downloaded Nitro Pro 7, cropped the PDF so I onoy have the boady, converted to text and then used Calibre to create the MOBI...
Only issue (and I can live with it until I figure out how to fix it) is that my paragraphs are not split a apart. |
