FREE (Kindle) Zombie Kong [Horror]

By James Roy Daley

"While a 50-foot tall zombie gorilla smashes the hell out of a small town, Candice Wanglund drags her son Jake through the hazardous streets in an attempt to get away from the man that is determined to kill them. She wishes her husband Dale was by her side; he would know what to do. The good news––Dale’s alive. Problem is, he was eaten by Kong."

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006ZSQ7NU/

Also free- Zombie Kong Anthology

"Zombies are bad, but ZOMBIE KONG is worse. Way worse.

Big. Bad. Heavy. Hungry. From James Roy Daley, the man that brought you the highly successful BEST NEW ZOMBIE TALES series, comes the most original zombie anthology of all time. In the jungles, in the arctic, in the cities, in the towns -- Zombie Kong rules them all. All other zombies must bow to their god... ZOMBIE KONG!

A must have for any zombie enthusiast!"

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0070DHJ72/

The Zombie Kong by James Roy Daley is separate and not included in the anthology so grab both if you're interested.

"Zombie Kong" is free, so I guess one can't complain about that.

However, this is the worst case I've ever seen of promo material attached in a book just to promote the freebie. Here's what it includes:

Also Includes:
Preview: Gary Brandner’s - The Howling
Preview: Gary Brandner’s - The Howling II
Preview: Gary Brandner’s - The Howling III
Preview: James Roy Daley’s - Terror Town
Preview: Matt Hults’ - Husk
Preview: James Roy Daley’s - Into Hell
Preview: Paul Kane’s - Pain Cages

So, with all respect to the poster, I'm going to avoid this one.

Your mileage may differ, and I urge anyone who wishes to read this story and doesn't mind all the extra nonsense, to just ignore it and read only the freebie.

There was another one like - Matt Hults - I think maybe in all the freebies from this micropress?

I'm the other way mostly, quite like advertising for other books in books, so to speak.

It's One Nation Under Cthulhu. A parody of McNaughton's One Nation Under God, which is an over-the-top evangelical Christian American painting. McNaughton's website is kind of fun/funny because you can mouse over each image and find out McNaughton's likes and dislikes.

I did pick up a Matt Hults title yesterday (or perhaps the day before yesterday), but promptly archived it as I don't plan to read it anytime soon, due to other reading commitments at this time.

Thanks for mentioning the title, however.

At least it's better than the big-six published "books" that are just a few chapters from various books (which they try to charge for, in some stores, although they are at least usually free on Kindle).

I used to feel the same way until a few months ago. It was another of (author/editor/publisher) Daley's freebies+endless samples that introduced me to Hults' work, and I enjoyed Husk. This house does a lot of freebies, and I've found them to be pretty readable, but then horror is one of my preferred genres and I'm always looking for new discoveries.

That said, I don't think my interest extends to Zombie Kong. And I already have 5 of the books that the samples are for. They were all freebies.

I understand and appreciate what you're saying.

What I object to is the degree of the promotion for this title.

I did, however, pick up another freebie book - a novel - from the same publisher which has the same identical promotion in it.

I'm a huge fan of Gary Brandner, by the way; but I really dislike the level of promotion from this publisher, which strikes me as very obscene in its degree. And I highly recommend Brandner's work.

Anyway, this may by own little pet peeve - seeing as how I how I have to deal with spam and spammers on an almost daily basis.

I'll probably buy 'Husk' shortly - but not because of the level of promotional spam I'm being exposed to, but simply because I think he's very good writer.

Cheers,
Don

This is pretty entertaining so far :-

"The average height of a male silverback gorilla is 1.7 meters, or about 5’ 7”. A gorilla at this height typically has a weight of approximately 390 pounds, or 5.82 pounds per linear inch. Most experts agree that the gorilla, now referred to as ‘Zombie Kong’, was slightly more than 52 feet tall and had a weight nearing 20 tons (40,000 pounds), or 64 pounds per linear inch. I have tried to find some facts and figures regarding the actual pre-death anatomy of the great beast, but so far I have been unsuccessful. It should be noted that my own investigations have led me to believe that Zombie Kong’s small intestine was close to 30 cm in diameter and more than 400 feet long. 400 feet, for reference’s sake, is roughly 14% longer than the soccer field inside Wembley Stadium."
