Yes - my device of choice being my PC's hard disk. I have far too many to keep on my reading device. 25 or so years of collecting eBooks tends to have that result!

I most definitely do. Sony 350/950 for the win. |

I keep all mine on my Sony. I have a collection called "Read" which I move the read books into, and I delete them from whatever collection they were in to begin with. I feel like it's an extra backup if something ever happens to my computer and/or its external hard drive. So essentially my library is stored in 3 places... maybe that's a little much but what can I say. I like organizing the books so my device has never been "cluttered". I also like to highlight funny or interesting passages and go back and re-read them sometimes, so I need to keep those books on there. |

No, perhaps my Sony could handle them, I definitely no. I only keep some books (around 100) which I try to read in a near future, and I delete as I read.

I try to, but as I don't usually expand memory with an SD card, I have to delete read books as I add new ones.

So far, everything in Calibre is on my reader. But I have books that I have bought or "bought" (downloaded free) from Amazon and B&N that I haven't bothered getting into Calibre yet. Bad, bad, I know! I am now at a point where I will probably take all my "read" books off my reader. There actually are not that many, since I mostly read library books and delete them after reading anyway. eP |

Not really a silly question. I keep my ebooks (8000+) on my desktop, with a backup on a portable drive. I go overseas roughly every three months. Before leaving, I cull all the ebooks I've read off my devices and copy on new ones from my desktop. I keep about 100 ebooks on each of my devices. |

Chose yes. I have about 500 books on my Sony 650. I have read people on here saying that they keep 5-10 books on their device because, why would you need any more? Having been stranded overseas fairly recently (damn Icelandic volcanos), I can tell you I was very happy to have a range of reading with me at the time. Having said that, I have been thinking for a while now about deleting some of the books I have read and am unlikely to read again (whilst retaining them on the PC of course). |

Thank you for allowing multiple selections. I chose: No, I mostly keep unread books on the device. I delete as I read. No, I only keep a selection of books. Too much clutter is bad. I keep a selection of books, but it happens to be a subset of well over 400 books. Not close to being my entire library, though. And I do delete as I read, so both are true. |
