Delighted to hear you are happy with your super awesome editor!
Just got back to torturing my hero. I gave him a break over Christmas when I was editing. Actually, I left him with blue balls, so perhaps he's happy I'm back to torturing him. |

I tried to write a sex scene, but it just turned out creepy.

Mr. Ploppy, don't feel bad. I'm classified as a permanent bachelor, so writing romance scenes for me is nigh on impossible, as I obviously have no quality experience with it.

I write SF where they mate three males to one female. I have to work hard to keep it suitable for YA readers, but I eventually bit the bullet and wrote an erotic novella that showed what happens behind the bedroom door.... Now looking for a home for that, since I don't want it published in the same line-up as the YA books.
I sometimes post sex scenes on Literotica to get feedback. That site has sex scenes ranging from the amazingly bad to brilliant. |

I'm still on self-enforced writing hiatus. I have ten books that aren't selling, and if I can't fix that, there's not much point in writing anything new. So I'm trying to find new promotional tools, and working on other projects (like the new web site for Read an E-Book Month in March).
Interestingly, now that I'm not working on any writing projects, I'm starting to remember my dreams... and boy, do they bite. |

Mine's coming in fits and spurts. I've got the first chapter and a half written, but since I'm pantsing it this time instead of planning, the inspiration comes and goes.
I'm also trying to have a bit less overt sexuality; the mantra this time is, "Don't let them do anything that James T. Kirk or James Bond couldn't get away with on screen." |

I got 6000 words written for NaNo, about 2/3 of which was sex scenes*, and then my husband had a heart attack. I've written since then (5 stories for the Yuletide fanfic exchange), but haven't picked up the novel again and haven't tried anything ambitiously long.
I looked at the "novel" again a couple of days ago and thought, hmm, maybe without the pressure of NaNo I should re-outline it to whatever length it actually needs to be, instead of trying for 50k minimum. * for some values of "sex scenes." It's sci-fi, and there's only one human involved. |

He's recovering okay? I guess? He hasn't got as much energy as he's used to, and it's endlessly frustrating to him. But other than that, he's doing fine, or at least as well as can be expected. No problems other than the "oops, almost died" part, and the "oh, and now you have the stamina of a kitten" part. Only, when kittens are too tired to climb a flight of stairs, it's cute, and someone carries it; when a 6'2 man is too tired, nobody offers to carry him instead.
![]() It's gotten me to look into the possibility of writing for money because I'd like more time at home. |

I'm glad he's doing better in the "not died" sense, but sorry to hear he's not doing well on the "kitten stamina" scale. Poor guy. Poor both of you. *hugs*
I've been thinking of new ways to monetize writing, as I'm dipping my toes in too. One thing that occurred to me was "here, read my book for free online", but stuffing the page with tasteful ads. Something I'm going to play with over the coming year. A friend of mine -- also an indie writer -- is talking with me about indie anthologies, too. Release 'em for free, with a little 1-page "author bio and links to more (paid) reading" after each short story. |
