Calibre closed after few seconds
First of all, sorry about my english. I hope you cant understant me.
I´m trying to run Calibre on a computer With Windows XP SP3. I can install calibre without problems, and when I lauch the program, it woks for a few seconds... then, it closes. That happend again and again. I tried disabling antivirus, cleaning windows registry, intalling a pair of older versions of calibre... even instaling portable calibre in a USB... but the same, only few secons working. I run debug mode and this is the result: Spoiler:
How can I solve the problem?. Thank you. Last edited by theducks; 01-07-2012 at 02:44 PM. Reason: Wrapped in Spoiler |

you have a seriously corrupted Windows fonts folder
The only fonts in my XP SP3 are name.fon and name.ttf you seem to have Apple fonts that start with a dot (*inux hidden notation) and other odd files. |

Thanks for the info!!
I´ve cleaned all things are supposed not to be fonts, but I still have the same problem. But the list of wrong things is now a little shorter: Spoiler:
The problem seems to be now only in a file, desktop.ini, but I havent found it in C:/WINDOWS/Fonts folder... How can I solve this problem. Thanks for your help. |

What version of calibre is this? Make sure you are running the latest (0.8.34)

Note that any desktop.ini file will be hidden by standard Explorer settings. You have to enable the option to see system files before they will be shown. Since this setting would show many files at undesirable places (e.g. On the desktop) one would never want this set except in special case such as this where you are trying to find a specific file.

Well, thank you everybody... It seems that the problem is solved. After cleaning my "fonts" folder, I didn´t erase and reinstall calibre. Yesterday I did it and now it works. The funny thing is that when I run calibre in debug mode, I get the same error message than before, but now doesn´t close and seems to work OK.
Thanks again!!! |
