trouble closing book on iPad

I have moved an epub from calibre on my computer to my iPad, and it opened with an error message -- "Book open error with title."

Yet it is open and I could read the entire book -- it's all there. But I cannot close the book on iPad and get back to my library. I have tried deleting the book from iTunes and then removing from my iPad through syncing, but I cannot delete the book from my iPad either.

So now I'm stuck with an open book on my iPad and I cannot get rid of it!

Can anyone help?????

thanks,
Cathey

Have you tried a restart or a reset of the iPad? To do:

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.

Reset: Hold both the power and home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo then appears (the slide to unlock screen may or may not appear). Once the logo appears, release the buttons. After a time, your homescreen will appear. Please note that it may take some time for the Apple logo to appear or for your homescreen to appear (or both). This is normal. Eventually, the homescreen will appear.

Either (or both!) of these help me when my iPad begins to behave badly. Good luck.

Thanks so much Marilyn. Restart was the answer! I also now understand closing the iBooks app might have been a solution also.

Thanks
