Merging two libraries

I have two Kindles, and some books are on both, some are on one only. Both are maintained by Calibre, with the Kindle Collections plugin. In particular, I have a custom column called Collections, with the collections from the Kindles imported into Calibre.

Can Calibre merge the two libraries?

Merging two libraries - feature request

Apparently not.

Then perhaps a feature request worthy of Kovid's consideration?

Not sure what you mean by "merge" but simply use the Copy to library function. As long as both libraries have exactly the same custom column, the data will be copied.

Thanks for the advice, Kovid...

Yes, the custom column Collections in both libraries has the same properties.

The reference to merging refers to the treatment of those books which are present in both libraries. I have found a Copy to library reference in the Adding books preferences, and also there, a reference to Automerge.

I have set them accordingly.

However, I cannot find a menu item called Copy to library. Do I use the Add books from a single directory function? It does not seem to permit selection of a complete library to be copied to the current one.

Regards...

Bernard

Thanks again, Kovid.

Why didn't I think of that?
