Fictionwise support: A good result
I've bought loads of ebooks from fictionwise over the years. As I read them, I now note them down in yearly lists (see signature). I check how much I paid for them through my email receipts.
Occasionally I find I don't have a receipt. Careful checking using reveals a missing receipt. When a spam filter or some carlessness on my part lost it is anyone's guess. However, when contacting customer support about a couple of ebooks bought in separate transactions over two years ago, Fictionwise support got back to me with transaction IDs and prices with 24 hours. Nice to see that fictionwise support is still there. Although I don't know how long it will last. Secure eReader format must be on its last legs. |

FW support was pretty helpful when some books I wanted to buy were taken off the new-release 15% off weekly discount a day early, apparently due to server glitch resetting the prices prematurely.
They went and refunded me with Micropay for the difference and even applied the additional coupon discount I was going to use as well. That said, I wish they'd switch over Secure eReader to B&N-DRM ePubs, which are at least compatible with anything which takes advantage of the new ADE-SDK which is supposed to allow for such, and more people would be able to use their increasingly rare non-MultiFormat books. They could call it Nook-compatible ePub or something to distinguish it from the old ADE "Secure" and put in a bunch of warnings about "only compatible with these readers" in the FAQ, on the book page, and as a notice in the shopping cart as well. But B&N has been trying to kill them off anyway, so I suppose it's a moot point. |

I, too, would love to see them move to B&N ePubs. eReader formatting is pretty basic.
The move to agency pricing is what is really doing for Fictionwise, I think. Currently they seem to be keeping on with independents mostly, but I've no idea how long they'll manage to keep going. |
