Bug in firmware 11140?

Hi,
I think there is a bug in the new firmware. I only had issues with the page flipping on the old firmware. This has gone completely on the new firmware.
But now sometimes when I flip to next page using the touchscreen then i selects a word and brings up the dictionary, i can get it to work if i swipe somewhere were there is no text. If i turn it of and on the it works normally again.

Has anyone else encountered this?

It's not a bug. You're pressing to long on the word. Touch the screen lighter & for less time.

Yes I have experienced this intermittently, but it's a bug which I've been having since the original firmware (1.0.00.09010) not a new one in 1.0.03.11140. To make it stop I just press the Home button and then reopen the book. Slightly irritating but doesn't bother me too much.

I don't think it's anything to do with pressing too long on a word because when it happens the selected word is not in the area of the screen where I swiped.

shopaholic: I don't thing it is because i press too long, when it begins to happen then it happens no matter how i swipe
jackie_w: Okay, for me it started after i upgraded. I will see if i can find a pattern and document it, so i can report it. It is not as big an issue as the page flipping was, but it is still annoying

I got that bug immediately after updating the firmware. After 2 days, it was gone. Maybe it's a one-timer that vanishes after a device shutdown or similiar events. Of course, only time will tell.

This sounds like one of those T1 bugs that some people get and some people don't. For instance, I never experienced the T1 'page-flipping' bug despite using the T1 every day since October. But the unwanted 'dictionary pop-up' bug I've been experiencing intermittently since October. I only did the upgrade to version 1.0.03.11140 yesterday and I've had it happen a couple of times since. It's definitely nothing to do with page-swiping technique because once it starts happening it happens with every swipe (but not the page-turn buttons) until I put a stop to it by either
- leaving the book and re-opening it (as I previously mentioned)
- doing a long press on a different word to initiate a real dictionary look-up.

Whilst on the subject of intermittent bugs, I hadn't experienced the 'double page turn' bug, that some people have reported, until last week. So I don't know whether it's something about my current epub or a glitch which has materialised after almost 3 months.

Yep, the pop-up dictionary happens to me too. I only had it happen a couple of times before I updated to 1.0.03.11140 as well. I think it happened because I wasn't used to swiping the screen but after a while things were ok. Now with the new firmware it happens a lot, no matter how I swipe- so I just use the buttons for a while.
I also have 17, 321 notes- this has gone way up. I definitely didn't do that many. I can't delete them because my reader freezes. Not even one by one-still freezes.

17000 notes! Yikes! I think I would reformat and start over fresh.

Sorry, I'm a bit new at this. Do you mean factory reset ( I think it is called that)
I did consider it but am worried that my reader will be totally stuffed. It works at the moment, I have to drag and drop books onto my reader but that is ok.

No. Factory reset only changes the settings back to what they were when they left the factory. Reformat wipes the entire reader so you lose all data on it: books, screensavers, music etc.

It is definitely a bug. At first I thought I was pressing too long so I would barely touch the screen at places where there was no words and it would still do it. Like it has been said, going to home would stop it right away. It happens every 3-4 hours of reading. Can't say if it is due to the new firmware since I got my T1 right when the new firmware was released and updated right away.

I noticed this too and so far I have managed to avoid it by swiping diagonally across the screen. Swiping where there are no words work too, but the book I am currently reading has been kobo-rized and I am stuck on extra large font resulting in the screen filled with words.

See this thread on the large font Kobo-ization problem. There are options if you don't want to read in super large font.
