				Wired e-Ink Reader Roundup

Wired magazine has a (rather superficial) round-up review of the Kobo Touch (winner), Sony Reader PRS-T1, Nook Simple Touch, and the Kindle non-touch SE.

Nothing really quote worthy IMO but its worth a heads up. According to the comments this review is in the print magazine. |

Pretty superficial as you say, and it seems pointless to do a round-up of the basic Kindle along with three other touch-screen e-readers. Also, I know the Sony had some issues on release, but a slow, fiddly interface wasn't one of them, and how can it be listed as expensive and the Kobo not when they are the same price?

I get annoyed with some of these reviews when people complain about things like "no twitter integration" and "no web browser" and such in regards to an eInk reader. I don't see how they should really matter a whole lot considering the main allure to ereaders is READING. Not tweeting, browsing (in a cumbersome fashion) the net, and all that. The regular ereaders aren't supposed to be tablets. They're for reading books.

But, good on Kobo being their "winner." |

who needs twitter integration on an ebook reader? Have it automatically send out stuff like 'just finished chapter 5 of The HoHoHo Mystery'?

I agree with those others who said that ereaders are used for reading books, not for tweeting or other jobs. Let's focus upon getting the best READING experience out of ereaders and leave all that other stuff to tablets, etc. However, it can be nice to be able to listen to music while reading (cancels out background noise)!

Personally, I prefer to read without any earbuds in my ears. I can’t read while I am listening something else so never got a chance to use the mp3 capability of my Sony 650

That said though, I don't know anyone who cares about the Facebook integration in the Kobo. |

I'm not sure why they matched the Kindle non-touch with the other touch versions - especially when a touch version is available.

Having said that, the comments about the screen were a bit worrying. |

I love the facebook integration in my kobi touch. Excellent for sharing passages with my friends. Wish it did twitter, too. The web browser is a must dropbox\calibre server integration and for reading online articles.

When I got my Kobo Vox I admit I liked the idea of their Pulse stuff. I thought a virtual book club would be fun but it seems like the participation rate is really low. I sent a few Facebook updates but it got no traction so it seems like it is still best to read and find a place like MR for the virtual bookclub. MR integrstion anyone?
