Two ways to look at this deal:
  1. you were going to join Audible's $14.95 monthly plan anyway, so you'll receive $100 discount on a gadget as a bonus
  2. you were going to buy one of these gadgets anyway, so you'll receive $100 discount on Audible's $14.95 monthly plan as a bonus
If you don't want Audible at all, then stay away from this deal. The terms commit you to 12 months at $14.95 per month or $179.40 for the year. That $14.95 gets you one audiobook per month, with additional audiobooks at a 30% discount. Keep in mind that audiobooks are far more expensive than ebooks and hardcovers.

Audible has four membership plans - two monthly and two annual. That makes the one or two audiobooks you're allowed range in price from $9.56 to $11.47 to $12.46 to $14.95 each. If you're getting this offer for reason 2, the cost per allowed audiobook $6.62 each.

This offer can only be used on the $14.95 monthly plan; which is also the most expensive plan they offer. Audible will not budge on this.

FYI for those unaware - Audible is owned by Amazon.

What do you base this statement on @tubemonkey? I had no problems upgrading to the $22.95 monthly plan (which BTW is the most expensive monthly plan) for the whole year, which has just completed.

Based on comments of several people who tried to apply this promo to the other three plans and were shot down by Audible.

Do the math. Last time I checked, $14.95 per audiobook is more expensive than $11.47 per audiobook. Check this chart out.

(since I was buying a GPS anyway, as it was a requested gift and on a very steep discount).
