Collection order
Lets say you have a collection that has books in it and you want to add another book as #1, how do you do it using either the T1 or Calibre? I'm not wanting to use Reader for PC because it forces me to sync and the synced content cannot be deleted from the T1.

If you are adding items to the collection on the T1, then you would have to delete the existing collection and then recreate it and add the book you want as the new #1 first. Not really an efficient or workable solution for long lists. It is is one of my biggest frustrations with the new Sony software that you can't manually drag-and-drop items in the collection list anymore.
![]() Maybe there is a way to do it with calibre? I don't use calibre with my Sony ereaders so I'm not sure. |

I could not find out how to order a collection using the T1. I may go ask over int he Calibre section. Someone may know.

On the T1 you have to create the collection and then add the items one at a time to the collection to force the order. A tedious process. You can't reorder them after they have been added to the list. Since some of my collections have a few dozen books in them, I added books to the collection in small batches of 4-5 books to get it "close enough" to the order that I wanted.
I recommend posting in the calibre subforum unless someone jumps in here to answer. |

if you use calibre to transfer books, it will use order from there (for series at least)

Yes. If you use the series option in calibre, you can control the sort by using the book number. So you would set the book you want first as book 1 and go from there. Then on the t1 in your collection sort by Added Order.

Thanks. I'll have to give it a go. But first I'll have to setup Calibre with books and tag them.

Just make sur you go into the prst1 plugin first and define what tags you want calibre to create collections for. I think by default it will create for series and genres. I set mine up to just create based on series.
I can't check right now, but I believe you will find this plugin under Plugins --> Device Interfaces |

This works especially well when you have a series thus: Author_01-Title.epub Author_02-Title.epub Author_03-Title.epub But I'm guessing it wouldn't work for your example since it would be cumbersome to force a book to the top of the list unless you knew it was #1 in advance. For me, if a book isn't in a series, I'm content to let it sort alphabetically by author or title (without "the" or "a" -- so "A Farewell to Arms" would be named Farewell_to_Arms.epub and would sort under "F" rather than "A".) Note: I only change the epub filename, not the book title in the OPF, so the actual book title remains unchanged. An added bonus to this method is the books appear in order on my computer as well since I store series in individual folders. |
