Smile Free Kobo eBook

This apology offer is probably going out to all registered Kobo owners:

http://www.kobobooks.com/lists/Choos...dec16apologyCA

Offer Expires: January 4th, 2012

What to choose?

I have all of the Gabaldon series, enjoyed Eckhard Tolle's "A New Earth" and watched "The Blind Side".

"Matterhorn", "The Glitter Scene" and "The Girl Who Fell to the Earth" sound promising.

Any recommendations?

Thanks, Kobo!

Not here in New Zealand, the link goes to a list of about 10 books, none of which are free. What's the apology for?

I'm just guessing here, since I haven't got the e-mail yet, but I think you have to enter the discount code. . . dec16apologyCA (I think)

The apology is for poor service.

The email came with a code that you use so that the book is free. I originally posted my code then removed it, in case it was for one use. If anyone can help me choose a book, I'd be glad to post it again so others can try it too.

I just tried getting a book with that code, but was told it is invalid. Maybe it's only for certain countries and doesn't apply in Oz?

Yeah, I was just extrapolating from the url you posted. Didn't work.

I'm thinking of getting The Cloud Roads by Martha Wells. Nothing on the list is on my wishlist, but a favourite author of mine had recommended that one a while back.

Of course, they haven't sent me an apology yet. . .

It could be that this email with a one time use code went out only to people who had open/feared lost tickets during the worst of the customer care debacle. I had one of those and appreciated getting a free book, for sure.

I just tried using the code I received and discovered that it had already been used. Guess I didn't remove it from my original post soon enough!

Oh well, I didn't have any major issues that couldn't be solved by the helpful people here on MobileRead so can't say I really deserved a free book anyway.

When I posted I assumed that this offer was going out to everyone and didn't mean to make people feel left out. Sorry!

Thanks for the link. I guess I won't be getting an apology code from Kobo, but I'm okay with that. I thought maybe this was an apology for not including us early adopters in the free book of the month club. But if this is for poor Customer Support, well I haven't dealt directly with them, just posted my woes here.
