USB Transfer to MicroSD Speed Problem

Hi,

This the first time I am posting in this forum, so please bear with me if I did something wrong

I have just bought a Sony PRS-T1, and everything works great so far. When I tried to transfer a file via USB to the MicroSD, I found that the transfer speed is very slow (around 160KB/s). In comparison, when I transfer to the built-in SD I get around 1500KB/sec, which is more reasonable.

I took out the MicroSD (A 4Gig Kingston) and ran CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 using the laptop's SDHC reader and I got around 12.34 MB/Sec read and 7.342 MB/Sec write speed, so the problem is most likely NOT the MicroSD Card.

My laptop is currently running Windows 7 Pro, and PRS-T1 is running the latest firmware 1.0.03.11140. Also I am running the Android Hack (minimal-root.zip) from this thread

Can someone try a transfer and tell me what kind of speed they are getting?

Thanks for you help

Update: I had tried using a different MicroSD card (4G, also Kingston) and with this new card the speed is now between 2 and 3MB/Sec. The strange thing is that on a Samsung Galaxy the transfer speed is the same (around 6MB/Sec) for both card. So for same reason Sony PRS-T1 just doesn't like the other card.

I also tried to restore the system to factory default, and the result is the same, i.e., with the new MicroSD the speed is between 2 and 3 MB/Sec, and for the internal SD the speed is between 1.5 and 2 MB/Sec. So the use of minimal-root.zip is not the cause of the problem.

Could it be filesystem fragmentation causing the problem? Try deleting all the files from the slow card (not by reformatting, in case the format is itself the the problem) and see if that makes a difference.
