Who determines DRM?
I have found various ebook titles that were with DRM in one shop and without DRM in the other. Same price.
What is the legal situation here? |

It's entirely up to the contract between the publisher and the retailer.
OTOH, there are some very dodgy sites out there that are clearly trying to sell ebooks for which they do not have a contract in place. i.e. they take all the money and the publisher/author never sees a penny. Give links to an instance of what you describe, and people will chime in with their opinion of the legitimacy of the shops. |

"It's entirely up to the contract between the publisher and the retailer." Ok, the question remains why there are different conditions in place. These are definitely "legitimate" shops: http://www.kobobooks.de/search/searc...rlorene+Symbol http://www.weltbild.de/3/16785835-1/...ne-symbol.html |

Yes, that is a puzzle. The same publisher too. I seem to recall some mention that Kobo (until recently) wouldn't do DRM-free ebooks. But it seems to have DRM in the Kindle store too.
I guess only the publisher could tell you. At least, someone at the publisher. But finding the right person to ask might be tricky. Buy the non-DRM one! |

Huge price difference. I would go with the lowest price.

They are the same if you are in Germany (because of our Buchpreisbindung) but I agree, go for the one without DRM.
It's also available at beam-ebooks, all books there are DRM free. |
