				Kindle 4 negatives

Today I received a check for $72, and I'm thinking of spending it on the $79 Kindle 4. I read a lot of excited posts about it the first few weeks after its release. But now that people have had the chance to use it for a little while, I would like to hear from those who think that maybe it's not so great before I make up my mind. Any naysayers? |

If you're just looking for a basic ereader to read with no other features needed like audio playback, tts, x-ray, and don't plan to type anything more than a word on it, K4 is great. It's the lightest, smallest & thinest Kindle with the same pearl eInk display as all the latest keyboard & touch models. I enjoyed using it.

I only use the Kindle for reading so it's perfect for me. It takes some use to turning the page one handed if you have small hands. The contrasts vary more on the newer Kindles but it well worth the price. | |

No naysaying from me, I got mine around launch and am very happy with it. As shinew said, if you just want to read then the device is a fantastic purchase.

I would personally spend the extra $20 on the Kindle Touch. Double the battery life, almost 3x the storage, and the touch interface works very well indeed.

OK, if I get twenty bucks for Christmas, maybe I'll go that route.

well, except that some of us (like me) don't like touch interfaces.

I'd also recommend going for the Kindle Touch just for the extra memory and longer better life. The nicer interface is just a bonus. :-)

I prefer the Non Touch because it's like a pocket reader with a 6" screen. It's small and lightweight and perfect for just reading. The battery life isn't really a factor. 18 days is plenty and for storage I never use much because I keep my library on Dropbox and only download what I am reading what's next in my TBR pile. You can also use the Kindle collections plugin with it. Something you can't with the Touch which allows you manage collections Easier and change the font and margins more to your liking. I love mine and put it in a Marware Eco-Flip cover which makes it even better! |

In my case I'd go with the K4. I really like the buttons on my K3 and will stick with them on my K4. I really don't need sound, touch, etc. Memory is not what I need. I perhaps keep 6-8 books in my Kindle. I add as I need them. Battery life is not a selling feature for me. I don't go away from electricty for six weeks. Plug it in when needed, like a dustbuster. It all comes down to your personal prefrerences. Amazon has a complete list of features, so compare. In the end, if you like to read, you'll be happy with either. |

I like having audio capability (TTS/audiobook), more storage, easier to type and navigate, XRay is nice to have. Kindle Store experience is better, PDF support is better, browsing is better. The games (at least the ones that work on KTouch) are better also (that might be a minus, depending on your capacity for addiction/distraction!) K4 is better for reading in the bathtub, as you can slide it into a ziplock bag and still operate it. For me, K4 was a non starter, but some people prefer physical page buttons, which makes KTouch a non starter for them. |

I love my kindle 4 nt. The kindle nt is perfect to read prc, mobi or azw files. epub to mobi conversion is very good and very easy with Calibre. Reading is much less tiring than through a computer screen. But i really would like a better support to pdf files. Unfortunately, .pdf to .mobi still sucks. 90% of what i read are pdf files and because of that i am thinking buy a ipad. Good Luck. |
