New eReader with similar name
Have you guys heard of the new color, non-lcd ereader in South Korea that will be sold as early as Dec.1 called the Kyobo eReader?

Kyobo is one of South Korea's largest book chains, I believe, and it's been around since the early '80s.
The screen tech they use sounds quite interesting. I'd love to see it in real life. |

Be interesting to see how it fairs with that $300 price-tag!
I thought this part was interesting "The mirasol display uses ambient light instead of its own in much the same way that a peacock's plumage gets its scintillating hues. " So...its color ink? Can't seem to picture this. |

More importantly: "The display contains tiny mirrors that consume power only when they're moving, easing battery drain. Mirasol displays also quickly change from one image to the next and show video."
There is an interesting video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ag4HG...eature=related. How energy use compares between the two for basic screen updates will be very interesting to see. Ofcourse the next problem will be low battery life due to unnecessary animations and fancy graphics, I suppose we should wait and see what happens. |
