Fizzing & chirping noise from my new PRS-505

I was playing with my new PRS-505 in the morning and in the silence I could hear a strange noise out of my reader. First occured to me when navigating through the menus, but it continues when turining pages. In fact, I can hear every time when there is an operation ongoing on the device.

I'm not sure if it is the battery or anything else.

Can you hear the same sound when you put your ear on the PRS-505 and turn pages? (note that you need to test it in a silent room)
Is this coming from the battery or some faulty circuitry?
If it is the battery do you think if it will die soon?
If the battey can I replace it?

Should I be afraid that the device will stop working because of this noise or is this just plain annoying? (e.g. my Mac mini's adapter has also a strange noise but it is still working after more than 2 years)

I have a 505, and it is as silent as a stone tablet. I have noticed that since I completely drained the battery, it seems to have greater life. I have also began to use the ADVANCED SETTINGS to shut the device down. Using the off switch seems to still drain the battery..more of a stand by mode.

That's just somebody inside peeling an Apple.

As to the Reader noise, that's pretty weird. I would definitely call Sony right away and get it exchanged if bought from them. If from a store, take it back for an exchange.

I don't know what it could be either, but I don't see how it could be a good thing.

I have the same problem with my 500.
Sometimes in the night silence I can hear this noise. I don't hear it always, it is sort of intermittent problem. Dunno how bad it is. It is working so far...bought mine in January and heard this noise after 1 or 2 months of using the reader. As far as I know it could be there from the very first day because it is intermittent problem and I am noticing it only once per 3-4 weeks.

This is my first post on this forum so I want to say hello to all the ebook fans

I have the same problem with the chirping noise coming form my prs 505. I bought it about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine until todai. This morning I noticed that when turning pages/changing screens a strange buzzing/chirping sound comes out form the prs.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem? And whether or not should I try to contact Sony and exchange my reader (this would be a problem for me as I am not form the USA).

Thanks in advance for all the help!

It's worth checking that you have actually turned off the mp3 player.

If necessary, then try a recharge, preferably via the mains, then a reset.(It's surprising how many problems evaporate after these tricks.) Then contact Sony if the reader is still vocal.

Unfortunately nothing from the above works
Looks like I'll have to contact Sony.
Or maybe you have other suggestions what could I do next (aside from calling Sony)?
