I just installed the Reader for Mac software from the web and from my T1 and in both cases I get an error about Reader failing to open. When I look at the detailed error message it reports that it can't find the QtWebKit library. I'm running 10.6.8 on my Mac, and I'm not sure where to find it if Sony didn't include it.
Any ideas, anybody? |

I do however only have the QtGui framework in that directory from 24 September, which is probably from my original install of Reader of a week or so back. (not 24 September!) But QtWebKit.framework is there and dated 15 November for me. I'm not sure what has happened. There are some tools you can use to manually extract files from an Apple installer package, but I would start first by removing Reader and reinstalling it. |

I experienced the same issue trying to run the newly installed Reader app (v1.1.05.13310). In my case it turned out to be that: I run my Mac with a case-sensitive filesystem, and the binary is looking for the framework library with a slightly different name than what it installed. It seems to be looking for this:
/Applications/Reader.app/Contents/Frameworks/QtWebKit.framework/Versions/4/QtWebKit but it actually installed this: <same path>/QtWebkit Note final lower-case "k". Simply renaming the framework file as QtWebKit solved the problem for me. This is clearly just a filename case naming bug in the build, they didn't do testing and QA on a Mac with case-sensitive filesystem. If I can figure out how to file a bug report with Sony, I will do so... |

OMG! Thank You! You have sharp eyes, Brent.
I did the mv, and reopened the app, and it worked. Then it wanted to update me, so I let it , figuring I could always fix it again. But it started OK, and now I have version 1.1.05.13310 all working. Of course, I also have two identical copies of QtWeb[kK]it, but hey, disk space is cheap ![]() And welcome to MobileRead. I'm sure you will find it as useful as I just did. But stay out of the Llounge; there's cats and dogs and chickens and ferrets - I think the llamas have mostly gone away, but keep your eyes open if you go there ![]() Last edited by pholy; 05-27-2012 at 01:32 PM.
