Chinese OCR
Currently I am working on a book of Judge Tie. Sometimes chinese characters are used and, perfectionist as I am, I want to include the chinese characters. Adding the characters in itself will not be an issue, but OCR the characters would be.
I have tried several online OCR services, but so far almost 50% is not recognized. What also will not help, is that the books were printed on rather cheap paper. Does anyone know of a program/site which will do good OCR or can anybody help me identifying the characters? I think it is a total of around 30-40 words. I have tried i2OCR, COCR2 and several character drawing apps. |

I don't know Chinese, but for Japanese there are sites like http://jisho.org/kanji/radicals/ that can be very helpful in identifying characters. If you can post a sharp picture of the characters I'm sure someone will be able to help out. Otherwise take the image to any Chinese learners forum.
If all else fails I guess you could just embed the characters as pictures. |

I was looking for it too, my friend sent me this:
http://jocr.sourceforge.net/download.html I haven't try yet. (Let me know if it works too) If you still have problem, send me the picture file of the 30-40 words, I can type them. Last edited by bookmeal; 11-14-2011 at 07:14 AM. |

I ended up in using ABBY for it, but some characters are not recognized. I think about 80% is recognized.

Have a look at Google's Tesseract OCR. You also need to download the relevant chinese dictionary, either traditional or simplified.
