This is such a good price for a Discworld book! I already have this in paper, but maybe I'll buy an ebook copy as well...

Soooo boring - £3.80 & £3.65 in UK ..........
![]() Why not spread the joy around, I wonder ? If it makes commercial sense to do it in one market, why not in another ? Anyway, I think it's mean ![]() And it's not just this offer, I hasten to add, happens all the time. ![]() ![]() |

The good thing about Discworld is that you can start just about anywhere. I tend to read them in random order, in that whatever I pick up from my wife's collection, I read. |

I started the first one yeeears ago and set it aside. I'm curious, which title do you (or Pratchett?) recommend as an entry point?

Anhk-Morpork Watch - Guards, Guards Witches of Lancre - Wyrd Sisters Death - Mort (Tho I also find Hogfather easy to get into as well) Rincewind - Interesting Times (tho, admittidly, I haven't read a lot of those books.) Moist von Lipwig - Going Postal Then there are the Tiffany Aching books, which are mostly their own thing and should be read in order ("Wee Free Men", being the first book.) Personally, I find the Watch books are the best ones, IMO, but tastes vary. |

http://www.lspace.org/books/reading-...r-guide-20.jpg ETA: As TheLongshot said, where you start depends on your taste. There are laugh-out-loud moments in all the books but some of the later ones also contain some underlying seriousness beneath the humor. I can't really say which were my favorites but I remember being moved by Small Gods, Feet of Clay and Jingo. Last edited by Eskarina; 11-04-2011 at 04:30 PM. |

The first one I read was 'The Truth', which I think was a great starting point because the world is fully developed, but since The Truth has its own characters independent of any of the other mini-arcs in the series, you don't need to have read any previous books to 'get' it.
'Going Postal' would also be a good start for much the same reasons. The earliest book I would recommend would be 'Equal Rites'. |
