Errors with GirleBooks - some help please?
I've been emailing Laura at Girlebooks - in downloading some of the free books through the T1 browser, some download fine and some throw a 'The content is not supported by the Reader' error, even though all the books are ePub. All the books download fine through my computer.
Would some kind users please use their T1 browsers to download the following epubs from Girlebooks.com? They can all be found on the first page when browsing by author. By Louisa May Alcott: Rose in Bloom An Old Fashioned Girl Eight Cousins Little Men Jo's Boys By Jane Austen Emma Pride and Prejudice I'd like to see if everyone is getting the same errors. Thanks! |

If no one does it sooner, I can get to that when I get back home late tonight.
Hopefully someone will respond earlier. I had my daughter download these to the reader (ack!! let someone touch my reader!!) and she was able to download the following: Little Men Jo's Boys Rose in Bloom Pride and Prejudice But got the same error as you did Kate on the others. I ran a validation through Sigil, and the ones that wouldn't download all threw date errors in content.opf, while the ones that would download did not. The problem ones had dates in the format
while the ones that would download had dates in the format

I have no idea why this would be a problem with downloading from the site (if it is what's causing the problem) and why I can download the exact same files through Dropbox without a problem. Perhaps someone who knows more about how epubs should be put together can weigh in on this. I'm not really up on the technical stuff. |

It's not the timestamp. The T1 woudn't know anything about the timestamp unless it acctually succeed in downloading the book.
I noticed a few things with firefox that cause that. I'm now a bit confused as I can't reproduce that. Firefox sometime says file is : application/x-crossover-epub instead of "electronic book document". That's what the T1 complain about. It expects "application/epub+zip" as mime type. For the non techies : when the server send something back, it send information on the contant. Saying : this is html, this is a css, this is an executable.. and so on. There, the server fails to say "this is an ePub" properly. And and T1 goes "I don't know what's that file your sending me, no go." Dropbox send that info properly, that's why it works. i have read in another thread that you tested Dropbox and you got a problem afterwards. I tested Dropbox also, 12 days ago, and now my PC freezes, if the PRS T1 will download a large file from the calibre server. WLAN and the whole PC is running without any problem, but calibre server and large files! Have you similar experiences Klaus |

No, Dropbox has not had a problem.
Girlebooks has also fixed their problem and everything works now. I don't use the Calibre server. Sorry. |
