IQ Just collected my IQ, came with label saying

7-10-2011 V2.1.2. So I am wondering what to do as I have read plenty on the forum stating that 2.1.2 is a nightmare.

I also read in the manual that I should charge the IQ for 8-12 hours before switching on for the first time, Is this correct?

Yes to the second question.

I know nothing about 2.1.2 unfortunately. It must be the newest firmware. My own has the 2.1.1 firmware, and in spite of how others have described it as a nightmare too, I never had a problem with it. The only thing was inability to connect to WiFi, which I corrected by doing a factory reset. After that, everything was working fine.

I would suggest giving it a couple of days, and then if you see you're having issues, trying another firmware. I think 2.0.6 can still be found on the forum.

I agree. Yes to the 2nd question.
2.1.2 Don't know honestly. I do know that 2.1.1 isn't worth it. I'm sticking with 2.06 for now..................I also thought that 2.1.2 was listed as "experimental".

2.1.2 has been released as a "release candidate", which means it is still in beta stage. I would not go with this yet since it is not ready for primetime.

I'm running 2.1.2 stock.
No rooting, no fooling around, no troubles...
...other than the inherent IQ issues of the native reader app which remains undesirable compared to generic android reading apps.
