Type of SD Card should I buy
I bought a Nook a 6 inch Wifi version. Anyways what kind of SD Card should
I get. I noticed stores have them up to a few gig. Can a Nook accept a multigig SD card. |

It can be any size micro-SD or micro-SDHC card. Full sized SD/SDHC cards will not work. I have an 8 GB micro-SDHC card in mine, but they should be able to accept a 32 GB.

Buy the cheapest one made by a reliable manufacturer. I've always had good luck with Sandisk which is what I use in mine. The really fast micro SD cards are meant for cameras; a Class 4 to 6 is plenty fast for the Nook. eBook readers do better with slower cards which, very pleasantly, are generally cheaper as well.
eBooks files are generally pretty small so you don't need to spend a whole lot of money getting a big one. Actually, once you get to 200 books or so on one card it starts getting too easy to lose track of the one you wanted. You can use the SD cards to help organize your book collection. I like to get the micro SD cards that come with a carrier so I can load my books directly from the computer and store my backup of my library on the computer. We're lucky with the Nook to have an SD card slot. Congratulations on your choice. |

I do wish they were a little easier to get in though. Took me ages to get mine into the color and the touch.

As mentioned, you can use pretty much any micro SD card. If you do end up wanting to run a modified Android ROM from the card (not sure if that's possible for your device, I have a NC), you should probably get a SanDisk class 2 card.

I generally only shop for class 4 microSD cards for all my digital gadgets (phones, ereaders, tablet). Faster cards (6 or 10) are more expensive and unlikely to demonstrate any superiority in access of your files. In fact, the speed classification is only related to write speeds, which is mostly important to digital cameras and videorecorders where slower write speeds can impact recording of images.

Thanks. That's nice because 14$ for 8GB (class 4) is great.

But, be careful of some of the cheaper cards. They use more power to use.

Has anybody tried the MicroSD cards from MicroCenter (with the MicroCenter brand name)? I was there today & saw their 8GB class 10 for almost $12 tax included. Haven't used it yet, but plan to upgrade my NC nex weekend. Any comments?
