wants to convert before adding book
hello every time i want to send a book to my Kindle 3 it says should it auto convert before sending,if i say no it does not send so i have to say yes,is there any way of stopping it convert before sending please ?

Convert all your books to Mobi

Calibre will ask that when it has no format available that's compatible with your reader. So I assume the books you want to send are not Mobis or PDFs.

i was using mobi but i have converted all my books to epub as in some cases they are half the size ?

I thought that you said that Calibre does an auto-convert before transfering to the Kindle so in fact I suspect you are reading mobi format.

It is only possible to read epub on a Kindle if you are using third party firmware on it in place of the Amazon firmware. If by any chance you ARE doing that then you should customize the Calibre Kindle Device Interface plugin to say that epub is a supported format for the device to suppress the auto-conversion.

on Calibre it says they are all epub and i am not using a 3rd party firmware,how can i find out if my format is epub or mobi on the Kindle?
because if i am using mobi on the Kindle i will reconvert back to mobi on Calibre.

Your Kindle is not able to handle ePub. So when you send an ePub to your Kindle, Calibre is converting it to mobi. You are in fact reading it in mobi format and not ePub.

But it is a bit silly to convert mobi to ePub only to convert back when you send to your Kindle. Best just leave them in mobi.
