Turn your Android Phone into an iPhone 4S!! Snicker, Snicker
6 Free Apps to Turn an Android Phone Into an Apple iPhone 4S By Davey Alba Published October 14, 2011 Oct. 14, 2011: Elliott Johns, of Boston, displays an iPhone 4S in front of an Apple Store location in Boston. The faster iPhone with better software and an improved camera went on sale in seven countries Friday as hundreds of buyers camped out for hours to be among the first to get one. The iPhone 4S and its new iOS 5 operating system offer a host of new features, including Siri voice control, a Cards app for sending paper greetings in the mail, Reminders that help keep you up-to-date, and Find my Friends for tracking people down. But Android users don’t have to feel left out. There are a host of third-party apps that bring this functionality to Google’s mobile OS. Cards Alternative: Postagram The Cards app from Apple, which comes with iOS 5, will let you create digital cards directly on your iPhone or iPod touch—and after they’re complete, Apple will drop the physical missives in the mail for you. It’ll cost $2.99 for domestic delivery and $4.99 for international delivery. But Postagram, a free app that’s available in the Android Market, been providing this very service for quite some time now—and at a cheaper rate, too. For 99 cents per Postagram sent, you choose a photo to mail and the service prints the image out on thick, glossy photo paper at a 300 dpi resolution, which pops out of the card as a 3 x 3 inch print. You can even add a custom 140-character message along with the photo if you wish. ![]() More: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/...ple-iphone-4s/ |

What apple has always sold is style, interface, and integration. There is nothing wrong with that. Just like PC's tech savy types learn how to obtain the same or better products for less coin. I love that because as a less tech savy person I reap the benefits also. Thanks I appreciate it.

Edit: I tried a bunch of things and she didn't one of them. Tried to get her to text, call, and set reminders, but she got names and things messed right up. I like google search and voice actions better. I do understand that this is a beta app now, so hopefully it will get better. Last edited by Care; 10-29-2011 at 11:11 AM. |

It's weird, some people from work were talking about iphone's voice recognition and I just looked at them like they were crazy and asked "You mean the iphone didn't already do that?" Basic functionality there... This makes me realize that I may not be the person to speak to about such matters. I never exhibit flights of joy about anything apple related.

Siri isn't about the recognition of the words you are speaking (dictation). It's the unpeeling of the meaning behind the words. It is a pretty hefty AI on the back-end, and nothing else on the market is quite like it...yet.

Not as "person"-like as Siri. Apple tried to give Siri a measure of personality. Another thing, Google Voice is a separate service. I forget what Google actually calls their voice recognition stuff.
Hmm, Siri vs Watson... I wonder who'll win? Hmm, methinks it's time to re-read Asimov's works again. Ya know, just to see what our supreme robot overlords have in store for us... Last edited by ilovejedd; 11-01-2011 at 02:45 PM. |

There, I've updated my device list.
![]() Apple already had voice control before iOS5. I believe it was introduced in iOS3 (although I might be wrong on that regard). I've also been using Voice Actions on my Android before Apple introduced Siri. I actually find Android's voice recognition better than iOS. Apple's (more like Job's) focus is bringing technology to the (well-to-do) masses. That requires making interaction with devices as simple as possible. Part of that is accomplished by trying to give Siri support for natural language. Instead of giving curt commands such as "current time" or "find Chinese restaurants" you can say "What time is it?" or "I want some Chinese food". I reckon Siri is also programmed in such a way that the more people use it, the more it learns the vagaries of various languages. This is just evolution. Technology is rapidly changing. Android, Blackberry, iOS, Symbian, webOS and WP7 all bring something to the table. As a platform, I prefer Android to iOS. However, that doesn't mean I can't appreciate innovation from Apple. |
