Odds of an OPUS with Pearl Eink in Future?

Just a thought... if not may have to buy a back up Opus for the distant future....

"never tell me the odds" (Han Solo) well as much as it hurts me to say I really don't think so. All 5"s seem to be vanishing. I was also thinking to buy spare Opus but husband says I will regret what he called old technology later on. But I DO like this cute little thing very, very much.
I bought Kindle in July but I have hardly ever used it. Talk about unnecessary money spending and cluttering up the house. Odyssey is very tempting but I fear the day my little Opus exhales its last breath...

and what of spare batteries then for the distant future - they deteriorate with time used or not, would have to remember to charge it probably
