Any eReader that do nested folders?
I am looking for an eReader (or possibly really cheap tablet) like this:
* Utilizes nested folder/categories * Reads ePubs * Prefer eInk, but if eInk is not an option for nested folders I would consider something else (cheap tablet maybe) FYI - We homeschool and use a ton of public domain texts. The kids currently use a Sony Pocket eReader - we LOVE the display, but hate that we can't organize the books better. |

The E-book Reader Matrix has a row on Folder Navigation. A "yes" means nested folders.
The short answer is that in the US all the inexpensive EInk devices do not support folders. See Dulin's Books for many EInk devices that do have folders. |

My Pocketbook 360 & my daughter's Pocketbook 360+ will do nested folders. I have now used a regular Nook (daughter broke the screen), a Nook Color (my mother's), & a Kindle Keyboard 3G (husband's from work). Out of all of those readers, the Pocketbooks are the easiest to customize my library. I have a massive number of books & can create & move folders & books on my PC & it all shows up correctly on my Pocketbook. I would never buy anything else--the others were very frustrating for me. I hate trying to find workarounds just to organize.

The iRiver Story HD does nested folders. It's actually the only way to use it really - it has a database view which is a flat author - title representation and completely useless to me...
The software is a bit lacking but I'm happy with a device that just reads, and the display is great... |

As mentioned the Pocketbook series of readers would be best. They do this natively. My Pocket Pro also does this, but the site I bought them from no longer sells them and I don't know where they are sold anymore.

On the other hand, if you wnat touchscreen (and now with the latest firmware you can use the stylus to annotate free-hand your pdf and epub files), the 903 and 603 are not available in the US because fo some problems with 3G licence, btu the 912 and 612 (with touchscreen and wifi but no 3G) should be available by the end of October in the US. |

My Jetbook Lite supports nested folders and does a great job with epubs (my preferred format) -- but supports just about any format out there.
The "Lite" has been discontinued, but there are still places to get the conventional Jetbook (a built-in battery rather than replaceable batteries). The Jetbooks/Jetbook Lites have LCD screens, not eInk and not touchscreens. But you won't find too many people who have them and regret getting them. (Check out the MR sub-forum.) No wifi -- ebooks are loaded via a USB connection or on SD cards. In a home schooling situation this might be an advantage -- you know exactly what's on the reader. No MP3s or web browser, either.
