.mobi disappearing after conversion

I am trying to convert an .epub to .mobi. I am able to open the .epub files in Calibre; so, it doesn't appear to be a DRM issue. When I convert, everything looks good. I can even look at the directory when the conversion is occurring, and a .mobi file is created. It matches the log file info. Conversion goes well, at least according to the log file. Then at the very end of conversion, the .mobi file disappears, and I can't find it. What gives? It is not in the same directory as the .epub. It is not in the appdata directory for Calibre. I am at a loss.

It should be in the library directory that your MOBI book is in, unless you're using the CLI conversion tool. You should see it in the GUI if you're using that. If you're using the CLI tool, it'll probably be in whatever path you called the conversion from.

Yes, I would have thought it should be in the library with my .epub books, but it is not. I have done a search on the drive, and it doesn't appear to be anywhere. It is just lost.

I did the following:
1. I installed a vanilla Calibre install.
2. I started Calibre.
3. Added my .epubs to the library.
4. Clicked the CONVERT BOOKS icon on the menu bar.
5. Let the conversion run. At the end of the log file, it has a name of a .mobi file with a complete directory path. I assume this is the working file, and that it should copy the working file back to my library directory.
6. The .mobi file, working file or permanent, is no where to be found. I can find it during conversion if I watch the working directory, but at the end of conversion it disappears.

Fixed. What I finally did was delete the books from Calibre's library, and I re-added them back. This time it worked. Don't ask me why. But, the conversion is complete.
