books vanish from kindle

I've never had this issue before: after I've exited a book it seems to vanish from my kindle.
Well, it's not listed anyway.
I usually keep the 'most recent first' order, so the last one open goes to the top of the list.
Anyone know what's going on?

Try sorting by title, and searching for it that way. Is the time set correctly on your Kindle? That will sometimes mess up the sort order if it is set to "Most Recent first".

i have sorted by title and searched for the books.
they're just not there.

Your books are not disappearing - they are most likely going to the very end of the list due to the Kindle's clock/date being out of sync. Scroll to the back and have a look.

Turn on your wireless and allow it to sync. (then you can turn it off) When you select those same books and exit, they should remain at the same location as most recently opened.

This can happen on occasion when syncing has not occurred in a long time.

I turned on the wireless and restarted it for good measure and the books are there on the last page.
I did have the wireless off for quite a while there.
