PB 603 not recognized via usb on linux (aptosid)

I set up an extra maschine, which should replace the bookshelf.
One user running Calibre and every member of the familiy could connect her/his reader to get books.
I used Aptosid (based on debian sid, manly because of wine for ADE)
Everything works fine, except the machine doesn't recognizes the PB. I get following messages in /var/log/syslog:
Code:
kernel: [11032.000194] usb 2-2: USB disconnect, device number 34

kernel: [11075.444101] hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 2
I figured out, that the PB has no Partition table, which could be the source of the Problem.
Any hints about that?

No solution, but it has certainly nothing to do with partition schemes. Your syslog excerpt clearly states that the kernel / usb subsystem is unable to enumerate the device, that means it is unable to communicate. It just recognized that there is a new "thing" on the bus, drawing power, but that "thing" is unwilling to identify it self.

Reading your syslog, it seems it tried for 30 secs or so. Did your PB showed the "connect to PC / charge" dialog, or is it configured to automatically go to charging mode?

If it is configured to ask what to do when connected to USB, try to quickly press the "connect to PC" button on screen as soon as it appears.

Did that and this just repeads the log message (you see two entries "unable to enumerate..") Fist is connedting the device, second is choosing "connect to PC".
So one Thinkpad works, the other don't.
So the older one doesn't work, Iguess it could be an hardware issue.
BTW:both kernel versions don't work (have to check the working version of the other Thinkpad tomorrow (it's in the office)

Most likely it's a problem with the PocketBook. I got a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card for the notebook and now it works.
So PB seems not to be compatible down to USB 1.1 (which should be as the USB 2.0 standard is expect to be downward compatible, another negative point to PB)
