ASUS Eee sold out in one day

The ASUS Eee laptop officially went on sale in Taiwan at 5 p.m. Tuesday, and was essentially sold out by Wednesday. See the PC World article.

There is an existing thread: ASUSteK's answer to the Foleo: the Eee PC, and it's $200! with much more information on the Eee. It is due to go on sale in the US on November 1st, but exact pricing is not yet available. It will certainly be more than $200 though.

I don't know the extent of Asus' manufacturing might but I'm inclined to think this selling trend will last for a good while. Is it a sign that a similar price cutting device was wished by many around the planet. How many kids have dreamt of having their own computer. I just hope this sends a sign to the biggies. Small computing is feasible and can be profitable.

The latest in price info is that it will cost 299-399$ (in the US) depending mostly on the amount of ram and harddrive space. It looks nice, don't know how good it is for reading but it still seems like a good buy...
