Technical Problem with KINDLE 3
Hello Everybody!
I purchased lately KINDLE 3. I use this e-reader to read "ordinary" PDF files, which are NOT necessarily defined as e-books. However, I find some difficulties to fit exactly the appropriate resolution of the screen. When I use the option "Fit to Width", I find out that the letters are too small. However, when I use the option "150%",the KINDLE screen cannot contain entirely a full line so I have to "play" with the arrows, which makes the reading very uncomfortable. I wish to ask what can I do to solve this problem? I wish to be able to read a PDF file while the letters are big enough, and still without using the arrows when I reach the middle of line. THANK YOU ! |

PDF files and 6" screens simply do not work well together (assuming that the document was formatted for an 8.5 x 11 page). PDF is really an output format, not all that appropriate for ereaders. If the documents are simple text, it would be easier to read them if you convert them to .mobi format, using Mobipocket Creator or Calibre.

There isn't a solution to this. This is the problem with e-ink and PDF. You can switch your screen to be horizontal instead of vertical in orientation, but it's still going to be pretty small for comfortable reading. It's sort of usable when put in horizontal, but not that good. A Kindle 3 DX with the bigger screen and put in horizontal might work better for you, but PDF really is just clumsy on smaller screen devices.

If margins are wide you can use briss -> http://sourceforge.net/projects/briss/ to cut them. It helps sometimes.

Thank you everybody!
I think I found a solution to this problem on my own. I used the Mobipocket Creator, and it worked fine! I installed the full version (not the Home Edition), and I had the ability to convert "ordinary" PDF files to e-books. After the converting process ends, you should get a .pcr file, and this one can be read by KINDLE 3. |

MobiPocket Creator does do one of the better jobs of converting PDF's (as far as free conversion goes), but its output is still very much dependent on the quality and structure of the source PDF to begin with. If your PDF conversions are satisfactory to you... count your blessings, and happy reading.

Yes. That's right!
I found out now that mathematical equations do not appear well after this convertion. P.S. Do you know another e-book reader which can read every PDF file? |
