Can anyone suggest a good fiction book on Anglo-Indians during the Raj and post Raj?

Hi everyone,

I've searched the web to no avail. I'm specifically looking for fiction books about Anglo-Indians during the Raj and post Raj. More specifically a fiction ebook as I have a Kindle and Ipad (I don't need a physical book because I like the ebook experience).

Regards

William

And the sort of sequel "Staying On" which is a wonderful story of an ageing couple coming to terms not just with changing circumstances but also changes in their relationship.

Try the Flashman series by George MacDonald Fraser. They're very accurate historical fiction and very funny reads. Many of them take place in India during the Raj

A really interesting epic set during that time is "The Far Pavilions" by M. M. Kaye. It traces the life of a boy (later man) whose English parents died unexpectedly and who was adopted and raised as a Hindu by his nanny to protect him at the time of the Sepoy Uprising.

From Wiki:
Quote:
The Far Pavilions is an epic novel of British-Indian history by M. M. Kaye, first published in 1978, which tells the story of an English officer during the Great Game. The novel, rooted deeply in the romantic epics of the 19th century, has been hailed as a masterpiece of storytelling. It is based partly on biographical writings of the author's grandfather as well as her knowledge of and childhood experiences in India.

Bhowani Junction - fits the bill exactly I think, and a real barrier buster for it's time.
