Florida Library with largest selection
I'm a Miami Dade County Resident, but would travel in order to obtain a library card in outside counties. Can someone please chime in as to the Florida library systems with the largest selection of ebooks?
Thanks in advance to all. |

Why not join the Free Library of Philadelphia? No travel needed.

How quickly do they normally get books? For example "A Trick of the Light" which is the latest Louise Penny Chief Inspector Gamache book (released about two weeks ago).

Their acquisition of new releases seems to depend on the relative popularity of the new release. NYT Bestseller new releases seem to be acquired relatively quickly, for a library, but as with all/most libraries, FLP would probably score low on the Instant Gratification Chart.
![]() You can donate money to them and (presumably) can request your favorite titles. I haven't tried this, though -- I donate to my local library because it's easier to go down and talk to them in person if the need arises. ![]() |

Orange County and Lee County have large ebook inventories. But there is an annual fee that may be cost prohibitive. Also, look to see if they have the types of books you'd be interested in reading.
Orange Count has over 18,000 fiction titles http://ocls.lib.overdrive.com/8B20B6...en/Default.htm Lee County has 8000 fiction titles http://lcls.lib.overdrive.com/03C939...ookFiction.htm |

They charge for ebook lending? A free lending library that's paid for with county funds should lend ebooks also. Are they trying to quash the rising ebook industry? Because I don't know anyone who would pay that.

You have to have a library card and only county residents get free cards. But their non resident charge is really over the line.

I have a non resident card to Orange County and it's $125/yr, not $250/yr. I just renewed my card two weeks ago. It's way worth it to me, because they have so many books I want to read.

Are there any other free libraries with large ebook collections, such as the Philly free library recommended directly above (thanks for that Anamaradoll)?
