A Question of Humidity!

As a counterpart to the temperature discussion here:

How does the reader handle humidity? Since it is a sealed device with no cooling fans, I would assume it can handle a little moisture?

The reason I ask is that I tend to leave it in the "reading room", known to others as the bathroom.

The device will stand up to the moisture caused by steamy showers, right?

I would not personally subject any electronic device to very high levels of humidity. It's asking for trouble in the long term.

I bring mine into a Sauna every day and in Mazatlan spent entire days with mine IN the pool... But it was in an Aquapac bag the entire time. I was getting some Condensation inside the bag and it didnt hurt my reader until I finally figured out how to force all the air out of the bag in the hotel room where the humidity was low, (Put reader in bag not sealed, immerse bag in sink forcing air out making sure the opening was out of water, then sealing bag, WALLA! all the air out.)

I got a TON of comments on it since I was swimming and diving and all. I'd just let my reader float at the surface while I swam and dove to the bottom of the pool and so on...

Was great!

I used mine for almost a full year in Houston, Texas. If it were susceptible to high humidity, I'd think it would have shown up sometime along the way.

That being said, I take mine out of the actual shower room during showers.

I've been using mine in the Boston, Mass area and we;ve had some really nice high humidity this summer and my 500 never flinched.

Roy, pretty ballsy letting tyour Reader float in a plastic bag! (A leak could be fatal...) My trick for getting air out is to ziplock all but a corner of the top seal, then suck the air out and finish the seal.

Between this and the temperature thread, I think I will try using my Reader in the steambath at home. (In a plastic bag, of course.) Regular books don't cut it, and there's not much else to do while in there.

30 bucks. After alot of testing I realized that if sealed properly. It aint gonna leak.. Period... Check it out! I wouldnt use a ziploc or something like that.

Is the Large Whanganui too big?
I'm wondering what would be the best size Aquapac for my Cybook, and am inclining to the Small Whanganui.

They give the dimensions by length and circumference - and I don't trust my maths enough to convert that to length and width (especially if it ends up being snug).

Update - just done the maths and I reckon the Small Whanganui will be big enough, so I've just ordered one.
