Vegas is going to hell-- literally. Werewolves are running through the streets and the vampires are taking over. Former army ranger/Goth tattoo model/privated detective Xochitl McKenna doesn't like it one bit either, especially when it comes between her and her clients. Now three of them have been drawn smack into the center of the vampire activity: a runaway girl, a straying wife, and a go-go dancer. The problem is, the vampires and the werewolves may not be the greatest dangers around. Someone close to her may be a bigger threat than any of them. Xochitl will have to find out, as she runs from a past that's even darker than this present.

Warning: Blood Trade is for adults, but is not erotica. Blood Trade is recommended for adult readers for graphic depictions of violence, sex, and for language. Do not expect any mushy romance between vampires and humans. It's a predator / prey relationship.

Okay, so I'm close to buying, but I need to know how the heck to pronounce the first name of the detective.

Xochitl is pronounced Zo-shee or Zo-chee. It's a not too uncommon Hispanic name for girls and comes from Nahuatl (the language of the Aztecs), though they probably pronounced the tl. I give a pronunciation clue in the story when she is first introduced.

While I was plotting out the story, I met two women named Xochitl, they both pronounced it slightly different-- with more or less ch.

BTW, it means "flower" in Nahuatl.

Just finished Blood Trade, Wes, and enjoyed it immensely. It's very much darker than your other work, so potential readers should heed your warning that "Blood Trade is for adults". That said, I liked the main characters very much and was anxious to see how they all fared. A real page-turner! Thanks!

I really tried to take pains to let everyone know it was an adult story. It was so dark, I plan to stick with some lighter material for a while.

Maybe you could do like Iain Banks/Iain M. Banks: publish the lighter stuff as "Wesley Allison" and the heavier stuff as "Wesley X. Allison" ...

Not usually a fan of vampire books and stupid vampire romances. But this book sounds good. Will let you know what I think!
