Content Server Questions
Hello,

I apologize if I missed this in the search but I couldn't find the answer to my question.

I think from reading that my content server needs to be reachable via IP, but I can't tell if my device has to be stay connected to read content.

1) Does it actually download the content to my device and then I can be disconnected or do I need to stay connected in order to read?

2) The directions indicate that I need to know the IP address of my device. Is this still true? Are there any plans for something like Bonjour where my iPad can auto-discover the device IP?

You need the IP of the HOST (Calibre content server or the Router if using Port forwarding) in order to connect


Once you "get" the book (save to file), you can disconnect.

Thanks. I was planning on installing it to my laptop at home but that Gershwin dhcp address and it isn't always the same hence I was asking if it could auto discover the host via something like bonjour.

It sounds like there isn't any plans for that?

The content server advertises itself via Bonjour. If you use Stanza, it will auto discover it.
