Mark all read by a specific person
arcdata has been spamming the heck out of Deals, Freebies, and Resources and I want to know if I can mark all the messages arcdata started in that forum.
Can the moderators please put a stop to it? It floods the new posts list. It's a single message for a free Kindle eBook. It looks like arcdata is going overboard at one time instead of posting in one thread. |

Are you saying that one *shouldn't* post to the "Deals" forum if they have Kindle deals? Because arcadata *is* posting in the Kindle forum also. Does this mean that there should now longer be any mention of Kindle deals there? Will somebody please point me to where that decision was made...

There is a thread for Kindle deals.
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=145720 Using that thread would solve the flooding. Last edited by JSWolf; 08-31-2011 at 09:27 PM. |

I know where the Kindle deals thread is. What I'm wondering is who made the decision that the kindle deals *couldn't* also be in the "Deals" forum. Yes, I understand that there are currently a lot of deals from the UK being posted, but then they are deals and the "Deals" forum is where everybody looks.

One of the reasons for the separate threads per book in the Deals forum is that usually a lot of books become free in several stores as part of the time-limited promo deal. Half the stuff being posted is from the Christian fiction publishers, which usually make it to at least 3+ stores. The rest has a very good chance of showing up at least at B&N, and possibly Sony and Kobo as well.
So having separate ones makes it easier for people to post updates on the freebie-ization status and links to the appropriate store which a kind mod will usually change the thread title to make it easier for people to find a compatible seller. Quote:
It's only chance that it was arcadata who found and posted this batch of the upcoming new month's freebies which have shown up early at Amazon UK/EU. Under other circumstances it could have been any of the other regular freebie-finders in the Deals forum, or a combination thereof, and the posting volume and style would still be the same because that's pretty much the accepted subforum convention. |

My ghod Jon... Is that the way you mark forums read? By stepping through each individual posting? You know there's easier ways, right?

I don't know how vBulletin really works, but maybe you can try adding arcadata to your Ignored User list? (If you know you won't ever read or use the info in his/her posts, I mean.)
