Browser for Kindle

I am thinking that we could migrate a full-fledged browser into Kindle to support much more functions. Like tabs, downloads and run apps.

We could call it kindber (kindle browser)

I recently tried to tethering my Kindle 3g to access free internet from my laptop. The method showed online can only support http access from your laptop which makes it a useless when you comes to websites need more secure https access. like shopping, banking, email and facebook login.

After I dived into this problem, I finally succeed to make my laptop access https and http altogether.

Then I come up with the idea of make kindle as a browser which amazon didn't want to give us.

We could start with mobile-version of firefox.

I have created a project in googlecode:

http://code.google.com/p/kindber/

Welcome everyone interesting to join.

I successfully compiled Arora (http://code.google.com/p/arora/) with Qt Embedded. Works, but is slow and gets into trouble with more complex web sites. But maybe that could be a start.

I would love to help with this. I have some application development experience, but I have not done anything specifically for the Kindle. What language would this be written in?

This is a truly, truly idiotic thing to do, which could result in ALL Kindle owners losing free internet access . PLEASE don't abuse Amazon's free internet access or everyone is going to lose out.

While I agree that messing around with the 3G connection is probably not the greatest idea, I think that this would be great for WiFi.
