A question for those who own more than one device..
Those that have multiple ereaders- do you have more than one book going at a time? Currently, I'm reading 3 books, and I've been told that's weird.
In the days of the pBook, in my youth, I did this too. Just curious if there are other "weirdos" out there.. ![]() |

I read about 15-20 at a time.
It does, however, take me a year to finish them... |

Im in grad school... so probably not fiar to count me, but I can have many going any given week... with only a week or 2 to chug through them all.
When reading for entertainment I stick with one book at a time. |

I have one device but I always have about 3-4 books going at a time on it. It's not weird! Sometimes I'm in the mood for Jane Austen and sometimes I'm in the mood for Robert A. Heinlein. Just because I'm not finished reading Rule of the Bone yet doesn't mean I shouldn't pick up something else in the meantime.

I usually have multiple books "open" at any one time, currently 7 active open books and one "long term on hold". Though I have only one ereader in current use, I do read the occasional pbook (one of the current 7 is paper).
I rarely interrupt any one narrative mid-stream. Almost always, the books are story collections where I've finished one story and switch to another collection or single narrative before returning to the first book to read the next. The reason for switching around is to change genre. My current open group includes three biography/history books, one humor/satire (P.G.Wodehouse), one mystery/crime, and two science fiction. I typically have more than one book 'on the go'. I'll have one on my Android phone, an audio book running in the car, and another on the phone just in case and I usually have three or four books running on my ereader. The only rule that I apply is that I try and avoid similar books at the same time. So one could be be a SciFi, another Horror, another Biography, etc. And thats only so that I don't lose track and get confused with similar situations arising.

I usually have only one main 'book' open at a time, as well as concentrate on a series until I get through it. I guess for the same reasons I like to rent a new tv series after the first season is out and watch all the way through a season in a weekend or a few days.
But I do have one reader just for fanfic, and will jump into a few stories from various fandoms between the series books I'm reading, or when I'm shopping and want to read something while I'm out at lunch, or at the doctor's office, when I know there's no time for a serious book wallow. Most fanfic is short and sweet, and I already know the universe so I can jump right in for a few minutes at a time. Otherwise, it's just the one main book across all my readers. |
