Archiving books on device?

I have few books that I have downloaded thru B&N and few PDFs and eBooks that I have loaded directly onto the device thru Calibre. Now, is there a way to archive a book (remove it from the library list) directly on the Nook device? I would like to do it to the book that I just finished reading so it will disappear from the library list.

Thanks.

It seems like you have the original Nook. In this case, this tutorial might help you. If you're interested, you can also delete a book permanently by going into your account's library on the Barnes & Noble site.

I have the 2nd generation, no the original Nook. Some of the books I want to archive are not in the B&N library as I have uploaded them directly onto the device. So the solution you provided does not apply.

you can only archive B&N purchased books, to "hide" any sideloaded content you have to delete them manually. either using calibre or just through explorer while the device is connected via usb.

Thanks for replying. That's what I thought but I was hoping that B&N will include function to hide books from the list. Especially the ones that I am done reading.

Shouldn't archiving hide it from the list?

Yes it does but apparently it works only on books bought thru B&N. You can't archive books that were loaded directly to Nook from your computer.

The only solution I saw when reading the manual was to use shelves. Put all read books on a special shelf. Then use only shelves for navigation.

Though the downside with shelves is that you might end up loosing your content if an error occurs. (I think I read about either the SD card being removed or the battery dying. Something like that.)

Does anyone consider this inability to delete content a desirable feature?

I wonder how the Nook designers could have thought so, at least based on my own expectations and experience with other ereaders.

I just noticed this tonight too....really weird. Actually the method of deleting B&N stuff is already a little weird, but not being able to delete other stuff is...weirder yet.
