Question about Calibre?

I am looking to convert my Microsoft Word documents to Kindle format. However, I don't see a place on the Calibre software that allows for importing documents. Am I missing something?
If anybody could help with this I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Calibre doesn't support converting from DOC, however, you can save your document as RTF and convert that. You're looking for the add books- button on the left of the main toolbar. You can also try dragging the file onto the library window.

There are links on how to do DOC files on the Calibre Help page http://calibre-ebook.com/help

I use Open Office with writer2epub and simply KIS

i load .doc files into openoffice, save them as .odt files and calibre will then convert them to whatever you want.
