3G in New Zealand
Hi,
What's the current status of 3G in NZ? We will be taking both an international and a US kindle on holidays in a few weeks and am wondering if we are going to be able to use 3G for maps, email etc. If there is no 3G can anyone advise the availability of free Wi-Fi. Thanks! |

For NZ registered Kindles 3g is available but restricted to access to the amazon store front and Wikipedia. I'd assume the same for your Kindles. Free wifi at McDonald's and some other cafes. Except for airports etc. Hotels generally charge for wifi , at what I consider exorbitant rates like $20 for 24 hrs. In general when traveling Ive had trouble connecting to wifi, but a bit of trial and error and Ive usually found 1 wifi network that works. If you have a phone casual 3g data about $30 for 512mb per month.
