Error with New Shortcut Feature

Speaking of bugs, I was adding a few shortcuts to try out, and when I added a splat-E to "edit metadata individually", I started getting the following error, which continually pops up every time I hit "ok". Even forcing a restart of Calibre, I can't go back into the keyboard shortcuts to take back what I've done without this popping up again, so I can't fix from my end.

What's splat-E? I've heard of ctrl/cmd and alt and meta and shift, but never splat.

You can remove your customized shortcuts by going to Preferences->miscellaneous opening the calibre config directory and deleting the file shortcuts/main.json and restarting calibre.

Sorry - splat is cmnd. I had a brain-freeze yesterday and reverted to old school apple speak. Thanks for the tips.

The symbol for cmd does rather look like something went splat

It would be helpful if once you've restored your defaults, you could re-create the error and tell me what steps lead to it so I can debug it, as simplying assiginf cmd+e to the edit metadata action isn't causing an error for me.

That's interesting - I have the same error, but I don't have a shortcuts directory. I did put a keyboard shortcut into the Reading List plugin, could that be the cause? And how do I get around it with no .json file to delete?

The Open With PI has keystrokes assigned. how does the Keyboard setting play(avoid conflict) with those

Hmm seems to be some kind of interaction between plugins and calibre only on OS X. I've made a change that eliminates the error message so the dialog becomes usable again despite the error. It doesn't fix the underlying error, since I don't yet understand what causes it and I cannot reproduce it.

I found and fixed one source of bugs triggered by some external plugins. Fix will be in next release.

Sorry for not responding earlier - I downgraded back to 8.13 because I couldn't otherwise get rid of the error message myself. when the new version is released, I'll see if I still have problems.
