Mounted Device Conflicts with Toolbar Settings

I have my Kindle mounted in Calibre, and there are more tools on the default toolbar than I want. So I go to the Preferences and remove some of them. I click Apply and then Close. Nothing has changed!

I exit Calibre and restart it. My reduced-tool settings are now shown. But wait! Now they're gone and all the tools are back!

Then I unmount the Kindle, and yes, my reduced-tool settings are back!

It looks like having the Kindle connected keeps Calibre from reading the Preferences I've set.

there are two toolbar settings, one with and one without a device being connected.

I only see the one at the top of the Preferences window. Where is the other one?

Click on that item which tells you it is the main the toolbar. It will then give you a dropdown off all the other menus that you can configure.
