Through Struggle, the Stars: new science fiction space combat novel
http://www.thehumanreach.net/index.htm
The novel is written by John Lumpkin, who is a former military affairs and national security reporter. The geopolitics is quite believable, and the spaceships are scientifically accurate. But mostly it is a great yarn with lots of starship battles, interspersed with undercover intelligence operations on dangerous planets. |

Yikes, I hope the novel isn't green text on a black background.
Looks like a lot of effort into it, at least... |

For $3, it's certainly worth a try.

Or, for those ancient Romans here at MR, "ad astra per aspera"
![]() http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Per_aspera_ad_astra That phrase was used as the intro for an Asimov story (I don't remember which one). It is also on a plaque at the site of the Apollo 1 fire. |

Read the first 70 pages last night and enjoying the story very much.
Reminds me of an RPG game I played in the mid eighties called Traveller 2300AD. Hopefully there will be more in the series as I firmly believe that, given the richness of this near future, there can be many stories told. |

Stayed up late to finish this ebook last night as I could not put my reader down.
I really enjoyed the Aussie involvement as well. Recommended. |

The next logical question would be, is when the sequel is due?

I heard he is working on it, but it will be a while. Right now he is busy trying to find reviewers to send copies to and otherwise promote the book. Unfortunately his agent retired a few months back so he has to do everything himself.
I did find the crew of the Australian ship to be enjoyable, but I'm sure you found it even more so. It was a nice touch. |
